Digital relief model
DIGITAL MODEL OF RELIEF - this is one of several documents received in the process of photogrammetric processing of aerial (aerial photographs). The task of the digital relief model is to use numerals, numbers, to represent the earth's surface with definite accuracy. For this reason, the digital relief model is most often represented as a collection of points arranged in a specific way with their coordinates and altitudes.
The main function of the digital relief model is to provide a unique correspondence between the planar coordinates Xi, Yi at any point on the earth's surface and its height - Hi.
Digital terrain modeling is one of the most up-to-date methods for presenting surface data. This model is necessary and can only be used by designers working with the latest (latest) software products for design.
The use of a digital relief model in the work of architects and designers from all parts allows a high degree of automation of the design work and the accuracy of the results obtained. The digital relief model is particularly important for creating good and reliable visualization, especially for investment projects where having a proper panoramic view is essential. Particularly useful is the use of digital terrain models in the design of vertical planning projects and earth mapping.
Creating a digital terrain model using classic geodetic tools - GPS and total station is an extremely expensive and time consuming process. When using aerial photographs obtained with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and their subsequent photogrammetric processing, the creation of a digital relief model is quick, easy and significantly cheaper. This allows the digital terrain models to be created repeatedly for the same territory over short periods of time. This is especially important in cases where regular ongoing monitoring is required - so on. monitoring the volume of excavated / loose earth or rock masses for such sites as:
Quarries and open pit mines;
Solid waste storage sites;
Control and verification of the actual excavation work performed during construction;
In addition, digital relief models also find application in computer-aided solving of tasks such as:
Prediction of floodplains and floods in natural disasters.
Selecting the most appropriate routes for inclining depending on the slope;
Outlining of leeward areas creating conditions for snowmelt and potential danger of road and avalanche flooding etc.
